John Calvin was born July 10, 1509 in Noyon to Gérard and Jeanne Franc Cauvin. He received his education at Collège de Montaigu and University of Orléans. Calvin was an influential French theologian and pastor during the Protestant Reformation. He was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later called Calvinism. Calvin died May 27, 1564 in Geneva.
